I am using the pro version on a couple of sites. It's clean and powerful and for calendaring I like the category based administration and front end organizations. However, I also need event registration, which as been sorely lacking in this tool. They are working on an RSVP element to this but it has been slow in coming. Frankly I'm wavering on this component. The response to issues on forms is a touch slow, although there is a lot of discussion. The pricing model has gotten pretty steep. I can see how developers need to be rewarded for their hard work, but there is too much payment for the response / support offered. Chicken/Egg question, so no negative judgement here.

It's too bad you as are missing out on a great calendar (true calendaring that is, not just a calendar layout for an events list). Also, you are saying that you don't (i) support GPL-business models recommended by the Joomla! project and (ii) don't appreciate all the work that goes into programming.

I was seriously considering this extension, but then I saw it's using the subscription model. I don't support this business model in any way so unfortunately it has placed itself out of the running.

Just to let you know that we, rsjoomla.com launched RSEvents! which has a calendar layout, integration with RSForm!Pro for custom registration forms and editable intro layout for custom lists of events. I think it's worth trying it.

Hi Steve, Thanks for the review. It's very timley for me. I am trying to pick a calendar/events extension for a site I am about to launch. I was leaning toward Eventlist because it works with JomSocial but I think that my users would prefer a calendar rather than a list of events. Also, adding events needs to be as easy as possible. I was also considering redEVENT and JEvents. I will take a closer look at JCalPro. Thanks again.
