These admin praise templates improve your work flow. They are quick and yea they look alright too. They don't loose any information from the regular admin template so you have everything available from version numbers to item id parameters. They are an evolution not a revolution of the admin template.

I'd say that our Free AdminPraise Lite is great for quickly creating content and dead simple, and that our AdminPraise2 if for serious admin work with shortcuts all over the place and granular control of the UI

What I'd really like to see is something to make two levels of back-end. One that is dead simple and just for creating, publishing, unpublishing articles, and the other which is for real admin work.

@web templates Yes, we've always wondered why the admin site seems...neglected :-) There's many little things that we've found were just left unfinished. We're about 90% finished with AdminPraise2, and we're improving every aspect. @Nick & cok: We'd actually consider contributing AP if the core team was interested

So far I manage all of my clients sites and while it is a bit clunky don't have too much problem with the default admin template. That said something like AdminPraise would be a great improvement but it really should be built-in to Joomla not a commercial add-on. Nick

I dislike the default admin template a lot. I feel it is counter productive (But better than 1.0's Template) if it were not for browser tabs i be lost. * having to reload the page every time a change is made. * having to open a module just to make a position change or to turn on/off common options like showing the name in a module. * having menu items locked out when editing .. just have pages open in another tab. The template is out of date compared to what can be done in today's web space.. Adminpraise is a big step in the right direction. I wish i was a programmer, I would work on a better one myself. I know you have to balance features with reliability (and the default template dose seam very stable), but there really has not been any real innovation scene the time before joomla.. What I really love to see would be a super duper desktop Administrator application complete with a basic image editor a real WYSIWYG text editor, muti-site administration and remote updating of joomla and it's plug ins....all in a nice package. I would also like a Lamborghini so if you see Santa, tell him form me.!
