Hi Is there anyone who knows where to find a step-by-step guide for building a community site with articles, event calendar, blog, forum, facilities that registered users can send in articles which will first be published after accept of the administrator, and so on. I find it difficult to choose among the different components/modules so if anyone has build a site with all these features I would be very happy to know wich free componenst have been used - a list of great components. And how to integrate alle these things. I really hope that one or two of you can be helpful. I guess there is no template with all these features included from the beginning? By the way: have anyone tried Drupal? Best Louis

Hello. Good write up - some nice tips there. I do have followed a similar process with joomla with our business Martial Edge (www.martialedge.net). I am curious to know how much traffic you are getting as you mentioned its a "big" site but I dont recall seeing any indication of traffic? I'm keen to have some insight into sites with large amounts of traffic, or huge amounts of users (eg 100k+), so far I have only seen medium to small sized communities come from joomla - ans wonder if there is a good reason for this (some of which you mention in this article!)

the only thing I am not seeing on this community website, are SEF Urls. That would be handy I guess for google and other search engines to better find stuff on your webpage! I am using Joomla!, only not in a way of community building yet, but still I always check the option for SEFs because I want to be found on the internet ;-)

Working on a chat and community site

Hi, I'm working on another community site using joomla and community builder but focused more on online chat. I'm also using jive groups and seyret video. I do like the template they are using for jeneration though, I've kicked around doing something similar for ours but haven't quite convinced myself to make the change. Does anyone know of a good way to index all of the cb profiles without eating a ton of memory? I'm using advanced search but it is really buggy and really doesn't work well but since so far it's the only component I can find I'm stuck with it, but when you do a search all it eats too much memory as we have about 10,000 members so I'm sure that the search engines can't find the profiles to index them killing us on contenet. Even a good sitemap that would somehow pick up all of the profiles would be great.
