Video Explaining How To Write Joomla Page Titles Print
Thursday, 08 November 2007
Part two of my video blog posts about creating HTML page titles in Joomla. This is partly inspired by Barrie from JoomlaShack who pointed me to a great post by Copyblogger.

Joomla Page Titles Video

How to Write Great Page Titles

  • Between 60 to 80 characters long
  • Understandable by people finding your site in search engines
  • Keyword-rich, ideally with the keywords at the beginning

Common Mistakes

  • Too short - not enough information to convine people to click on your site
  • Too long - cramming in every keyword you can think of

Ramping up up - way to go, Steve! :-)

Great service, love your voice! What did you use to create your video? Camtasia? I've had good success with it but would love to find a decent open source solution. Wink does a great job capturing video but I cannot seem to get the audio recorded without a severely choppy effect.

You do good work, Steve, much appreciated!

Better as a simple blog post?

Hey Steve - liked the video but this post would've been better executed as a blog entry with text and a couple screenshots no? I like the idea f posting videos to your blog but when there's not much screen action that can't be explained through stills, video posts demand a lot of time from your site viewers/readers..

Hi Amy

Thanks for the kind words. It is Camtasia. As far as Open Source goes, someone recommended Wink as being a very good solution: http://www.debugmode.com/wink/

Hi Qasim

Thanks for the great feedback. I think you may well be right ... video should be used only for actual tutorials rather than just opinion.

I like the videos. I think the videos would still work in these instances if maybe you could zoom in or callout portions. The issue I have is that I can't see the detail you're referencing. I'm on a 1024 monitor which may be smaller that what people are using.

H Anne

You're absolutely right. Shrunk down to a web-friendly size it does become very difficult to read.

I'll get better at playing with Camtasia and will make sure the next one turns out much clearer.
Well Said!

Thank you Steve! Now I will send my clients to this video instead of explaining the importance of page titles over and over! smilies/cool.gif

Keep up the great posts and videos....I read and watch daily.
