My First Attempt at a Video Blog Print
Tuesday, 06 November 2007

This is my first attempt to create a video tutorial in Joomla.

Its an answer to a question we get a lot ... "Whats the difference between a page title and an HTML title?"

It also seems a good place to start because modifying page titles on clients' sites has produced better results than anything else we do. Adding SEF URLs, generating more links and improving site structure are all less effective than page title improvements.

Above all, I'm interested to see what you think. Are video blogs worth the effort?

Page Titles and HTML Titles in Joomla

This video was made using the Seyret component and these ten steps.

Nice video smilies/smiley.gif

Interesting though. Brian seems the site de jour for us both right now smilies/wink.gif, he has a good post that advocates creating titles for readers first and engines second

http://www.copyblogger.com/writing-headlines-for-social-media/

Interestingly enough, if you cruise his site, the always matches the title smilies/wink.gif

This is a great video. I was hoping that through using sh404SEF I would be able to drop the joomlatwork patch as I don't like the way it modifies core files. It's just so nice to have the easy access to the title field in the editor window though, I might just run both!

Hi Barrie smilies/smiley.gif

I guess Copyblogger is playing in a different ballpark from the companies we deal with normally. Brian seems to be on the frontpage of Digg every day and so the attractive page titles play a huge role. He's really big on #3 on that list whereas most people without a the time to linkbait will be best off with #2. We've managed to get companies with some pretty boring products onto Digg and Reddit but it sure isn't easy and its much harder than it used to be.

Hi Anthony

Camtasia from techsmith.com. Works great and comes recommended by other developers.

Hi Tom

Thats a good idea - the SEF Patch and sh404SEF are a great combination.

Nice clean explanation video, really liked it, although no new things for me to learn...
But it is good to see you using the awsome Joomlatwork commercial patch which is very easy to install as a component!

You know I really like opensource software and free software (hehe, I am Dutch) so I wanted to point out a very nice freeware tool as an alternative for Camtasia called Wink http://www.debugmode.com/wink/.

You of course already have Camtasie so this is just to help other people.
