Open Question: Major Companies Using Joomla Print
Monday, 02 June 2008

Quizilla.com Traffic This seems like a natural follow-on to last week's question about Joomla sites with great rankings.

"Do you know of any major companies using Joomla?"

I've decided to set the bar high by looking for sites that do over half-a-million uniques per month or belong to a truly substantial company. A good rule of thumb is "do they have a Wikipedia entry?"

Here's what I've found so far:

Feel free to post more sites in the comments and I'll add to this list whenever we find a new one.

I just read about a site called Quizilla that uses the Joomla framework, but does not use the Joomla CMS. Here is a post about it at Spacemonkey Labs: http://www.spacemonkeylabs.com...nches.html

Quizilla is owned by MTV Networks (Viacom). According to the post at SML, "Quizilla frequently serves 40 million page views weekly."

smilies/smiley.gif S'OK. I think that is probably the least-Joomla site on the list because of its heavy modifications.

You're right ... its also getting a huge, huge amount of traffic. Some of the blog posts get several thousand comments each!

The site I was most surprised to find on that list is Danone. It's great they are using Joomla!
To be honest though, I find it somewhat disappointing that not more large websites are using Joomla... Although after using Drupal it's understandable. I think we would be able to find more large companies that use Drupal as opposed to Joomla.

that's a great post.
Wouldn't it be related to a certain explosive thread of the joomla forum where someone was actually questioning the fact that joomla is not good enough for large company and was advertising drupal?

Either way, we should invite him to read this post.

You have some serious company in this list. Like you said about Danone: (A lot more than just yogurts); you are perfectly right. Danone is "ginormous" smilies/grin.gif

thanks again for this great site

cheers

hi guys

interesting thread ...
its something ive been always wondering about and been too lazy to find out.
however,

# Danone (A lot more than just yogurts)

.. did seem to me a lot different than yogurts,

and

# Jetstar (Airline owned by Quantas)

has URLs tha strongly indicate that it aint joomla at all (anymore?)...

Didnt go through the whole list yet.
Ill add URLs to the list when (if) I find them

Cheers

Thanks to all who have contributed so far.

Just a quick note if your comment isn't being published .... we really are looking for MAJOR companies here.

Your personal Joomla site probably doesn't count.
