BestofJoomla Huge New Relaunch Print
Saturday, 01 December 2007

BestofJoomlaThe main Fireboard site went offline yesterday, promising a relaunch.

Boy, did they deliver ... !

Some of the New Site Highlights

The date on some of the new articles is 19 September and so this relaunch must have been several months in the planning. I found at least five new components and several others that have been heavily modified.

Its an very impressive revamp that was handled remarkably smoothly. Best of luck, Best of Joomla!

Their template directory is excellent. Seems to have a broad selection and they have a nice way of diplaying them altogether. Great work. I guess they are gonna be brining in quite a lot of referral earnings!

Their new forum template is amazing too! I love it. The two views they use on the forum are also a great idea, I hope that makes it into the next release.

The new site really looks cool and I enjoy the new features. However, they forgot the language specific support child boards in the forum smilies/sad.gif It should have been the time to convert to UTF-8 encoding, and they missed it. smilies/cry.gif

Recently was published the Tutorials component at Joomla4 Extensions Directory. The title of the component may be deceptive, it's a Digg/Pligg like system implemented for Joomla!. Onlie demo is available here.

I agree that the Tutorials component is misnamed ... from what it looks like, I'd rather call it a link directory.

Kind regards,

Ah - wonderful, thanks Jozsef.

The demo (http://www.nsorg.com/index.php/photoshop/) looks so similiar to Pligg, but its great to see that its a GPL Joomla component.
this is nor nsorg tutorial component

their resources component is own. modified by com_bestoftemplate component. It is not a nsorg tutorial componnent. This is better then nsorg i guess.

Hi David

Thanks for the post. Is the resources component 100% new or is it Pligg based?

I just saw this article and amazed why it sounds so positive ?
That site left thousands of fireboard users in the cold, did a piss poor job on support purely for their own interests.
After joomlaboard died and so called joined with fireboard they knew a lot would turn to fieboard and that people would ask for support.
Other developers arent heard.
They call FB trash now.
bestofjoomla had other ideas with their site and lost track of why they started it i think.
Support is terrible, and the people who bought the clexus messenger are completely ignored at the clexus site which is or was owned by danialt, one of the developers at bestofjoomla.
And now i read "Clexus Private Messaging component will be reborn as FireMessage."
But as i heard also, bestofjoomla will get the proper attention at a new upcoming joomla review site.
